When engraving aluminum, there are 2 ways to engrave metal. One possibility is to incorporate the engraving into an already coated sheet (e.g. painted or anodized sheet metal).

Another option for aluminum engraving is to engrave metal into raw aluminum sheet, whereby the surface is then processed and refined.

The most complex variant of engraving metal is engraving brass. As a rule, front panels of music systems or door signs of buildings and fine jewelry are processed to the highest perfection.
